Change is Strong – TV Spot

Notes: ‘Change is Strong’ was the defining brand campaign of 2019, culminating in this TV spot aired in select markets, as well as YouTube paid media. This shoot was produced and directed by 1820 Productions and I had the unique pleasure of being on-set with the Gold’s Gym brand team producing segments along side their director.

Notes: The 2020 Gold’s Gym Challenge video series was my baby and was in charge of every aspect of production. I set up our lighting system, ran our TASCAM to capture interviewee audio, and directed personnel as team members handled conducting the interview.

Notes: Kickoff video for the 2019 Gold’s Gym Global Convention. ‘Change is Strong’ was a secret theme revealed to attendees during the first day. The shift in theming also revealed several surprise announcements and events that took place during the convention.

Notes: This is a great example of support offered by the corporate marketing team for the field. This hype video was placed on the home screen of the company Intranet ‘GRIP’ to let gym staff know about an upcoming brand wide event, “Dedication Week.”

Notes: In 2018, Gold’s Gym launched the “Experience Change” line of videos for paid media prerolls. This specific piece was used at the start of 2019 to advertise to those looking to start a fitness regiment as part of their New Year’s resolutions.

Notes: The first traditional television commercial Gold’s Gym had done in three years, it was a huge honor for me to be able to edit this spot for numerous television markets. In this spot, a 2017 Gold’s Gym Challenge winner shares her incredible story and how she truly ‘experienced change.’

2018 Gold’s Gym Challenge Hero Video

Notes: Each year, Gold’s Gym holds a brand-wide contest called “The Gold’s Gym Challenge” encouraging members to change their lives for the better and for a chance to win cash prizes. This video, featuring category winners from 2017, was used to launch the campaign on social as well as within the in-gym video network.

To ensure top quality, I wrote a video production guide covering the basics of composition and technical execution. Executives and team members based in the Dallas area were filmed by me.

I created all of the “8-bit” assets, recreating Venice Beach, California, as well as our “Joe” wearing the new Gymshark/Gold’s Gym line. Notes: The main Gold’s Gym brand Facebook page wanted to leverage more live video without the hassles of live shooting. I was tasked with packaging a pre-recorded video from a “brand influencer” and then managing the logistics to plug in the video into the Facebook Live feature and monitor the quality of the stream.

Notes: Instagram story created for May the Fourth with a rewritten monologue from Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. The video was split into three parts to fit within the Instagram Story framework.

Notes: Pilot episode for new web series shared via social media channels. Happy State Bank’s bread and butter with their customers are their officers. This video took the time to shine a light on selected officers, as well as giving them a platform to highlight aspects of Happy’s company culture.

Social Media Photo Contest

Notes: Happy State Bank thrives on its ability to connect with the small, local communities they serve across the Texas panhandle. This video was produced to help promote a selfie photo contest for a $50 cash prize. The video was the top pinned post for the duration of the Tri-State Fair held in Amarillo, TX.
vipabc/vipjr – Teacher Stories

Notes: We sourced our talent from the Dallas metro area and did a half day shoot with talent reading off a prompter. A portion of the copy was based on an actual interview I conducted with one of the teachers employed by iTutorGroup. The video was used on rotation at the TESOL 17 International Conference in Seattle at our booth, as well as currently being hosted on iTutorGroup’s YouTube and Vimeo channels.

Notes: SXSWedu was an incredible experience and gave iTutorGroup a platform to expand their brand and make new connections. Recorded the conference floor over the course of two days and then shot Daniela’s address the final day. The recording of her full address was also used internally for educational purposes.
iTutorGroup and Extreme Tech Challenge – Recap 2017

Notes: I am no stranger to tight deadlines where something has to be produced. We were in a situation where footage from the finals of the Extreme Tech Challenge was well overdue and as major sponsors, iTutorGroup needed something to post to social media before any cool off period. So since the photographer had sent us photos from the event, we improvised and I cut this days after the competition concluded. Hooray for ingenuity!

Notes: Straight forward announcement video. The Refreshing Faith summer program at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church was a huge success and this was sent to the congregation to prep them for the coming months. Duties included some B-roll shoots, footage from a church musical I shot a few months prior, as well as some still photography.
KCCI 8 News Package – Missing Woman

Notes: 10:00 news package with KCCI 8 reporter Laura Nichols (now Terrell) about an elderly woman who unfortunately wandered away from home. What was incredible about this story was the KCCI 8 day crew was out in the heat all day with the search party with no leads or signs of her. The same went for the three to four hours we were with the search party, no sign of her. We had actually wrapped up the shoot and were going to return the next day, when about 10 minutes into our drive we got a call she was found safe. We spun around and rewrote and reshot the entire story on the fly and had about 45 minutes to cut the package after returning to the studio. Certainly a memorable day on the job.

Ewoks Don’t Blink – Episode One

Notes: A comedy web series co-created by myself and Beau Batterson, Ewok’s Don’t Blink tells the story of a video rental store clerk and his encounter his a robber, as a simple stick up turns into a knock-down, drag-out nerd argument over the holiest of holys, Star Wars. Ewoks was submitted to various film festivals around the area and received recognition from critics and judges.
